Rabat, Friday, October 3 – The capital city hosted the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of the Video Game Creator training program, in the presence of the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, and the Ambassador of the French Republic to Morocco, alongside academic and institutional partners: the International University of Rabat (UIR), ISART Digital School, and the FISMAC Foundation.
This milestone crowns a full year of intensive training that benefited forty young participants from across the Kingdom, with women representing 35% of the class. Their final projects showcased a remarkable level of creativity inspired by Moroccan culture, while meeting international standards in the video game industry.
Thanks to this ministry-funded program, the graduates are now equipped to contribute to the growth of existing Moroccan studios or to launch new start-ups. They are also well positioned to enrich other innovation-driven sectors such as healthcare, education, and cultural heritage preservation.
In line with the implementation of the intergovernmental declaration of intent signed between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic—under the patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI May God Assist Him and President Emmanuel Macron—focused on supporting and structuring Morocco’s video game ecosystem, the ISART Talents Morocco Day was successfully held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the International University of Rabat (UIR).
This day was a major highlight of the “Video Game Creator” training program, shining a spotlight on forty talented young Moroccan graduates who proudly presented their final projects. The video games developed through this initiative represent a crucial step in their professional integration and signal the vibrant emergence of a new generation of Moroccan creators. Five of these groundbreaking projects will soon be available online via isartmaroc.itch.io, with trailers accessible on YouTube, and a presentation booklet available through a QR Code.
It should be recalled that the ISART Talents Morocco Day—championed by Moroccan and French partners, including the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Departement of Communication, the French Embassy in Morocco, ISART Digital, the International University of Rabat (UIR), and FISMAC is part of a broader momentum launched in January 2025 with the official inauguration of the “Video Game Creator” training. This initiative progressed through the collaborative Arcade project and saw the notable participation of young Moroccan talents in the second edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo, before concluding with the final project presentations during this capstone event.
Rabat hosted a week-long training program in video game ibdustry at the Yaacoub El Mansour Youth Center. The sessions were led by Créajeux Institute, one of France’s leading institutions in gaming education.
This program was organized in partnership between the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the French Institute in Morocco.
As part of the Video Game Incubator (VGI) program, established under the agreement signed between the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication-Departement of Communication, the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, and the French Ministry of Culture, the nine incubated startups had the opportunity to take part in the international Video Game Industry Exhibition 2025, accompanied by the French Institute in Morocco and Level Link Partners.
Gamescom is the world’s largest platform bringing together game developers, publishers, and investors. This participation provided the Moroccan startups with a unique opportunity to showcase their innovations and build valuable international connections.
During the second edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo (MGE 2025), held from 2 to 6 July 2025 at the Palais des Sports, Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, five startups were selected as part of the Huawei Cloud Gaming Program. The selected startups are Octav Studio, Kokoro Games, Geek Culture Agency, Yaaz Company, and AB Progress.
This program aims to provide cloud gaming solutions and specialized training in the sector for the selected gaming startups, enhancing their technological capabilities and supporting their growth in the digital gaming industry.
Incubation support organizations formed a key part of the 2nd edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo 2025, actively engaging with a diverse range of startups representing various profiles within the gaming industry through presentations and interactive sessions.

Through the parallel work of the Communication departement in developing the Gaming industry and the film industry, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication affirmed the importance of strengthening cooperation and networking between professionals in Cinema and Gaming, including directors, producers, developers, technicians, and creators, with the aim of building an integrated ecosystem for creativity and collaboration.
This intersection between the two industries opens new horizons for joint production, such as developing content that combines cinematic storytelling with digital interaction, adapting video games into cinematic works, or integrating immersive technologies into visual productions.
Morocco continues to assert its presence on the international video game scene with the selection of Bassma Benalla, a young creator from Laayoune and a graduate of the Video Game Creator program, to participate in the Game CréaLab Francophone 2025 program – a first for an African country, alongside talents from Switzerland, France, Belgium, and other countries worldwide. This program aims to support young creators in developing their projects and enhancing their artistic and technical coherence through personalized guidance, knowledge exchange, and direct interaction with leading experts in this emerging industry.
Huawei Technologies Morocco has officially announced the launch of the Huawei Developer Competition 2025, an initiative designed to support and encourage Moroccan youth to innovate in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This move is part of the implementation of the strategic agreement signed between Huawei Technologies Morocco and the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication – Departement of Communication formalized during the Gaming Startups Meeting Day in October 2024. This partnership aims to bolster technological innovation and foster digital talent across the Kingdom.
The agreement underscores Huawei’s commitment to supporting Moroccan participants; the competition will grant all registered Moroccan developers financial support vouchers valued between $100 and $200 USD. This incentive is intended to encourage broad participation and enable young developers to engage actively in the program, which runs from October to December 2025. Ambitious youth are invited to participate in the Huawei Developer Competition 2025 for a chance to win significant cash prizes ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 USD. On April 16, on the sidelines of GITEX AFRICA in Marrakech, Minister Mehdi Bensaid signed a partnership agreement with OneCloud to strengthen the video game industry in Morocco, particularly through the upcoming Video Game City in Rabat. The agreement aims to jointly develop cloud gaming solutions tailored to the ecosystem of companies operating in the video game sector.
On March 3, 2025, Minister Mehdi Bensaid met with Mr. Hans Kornhaedie Saleh, Head of Garena for the Middle East. Garena is a globally renowned video game publisher, best known for its hit mobile game Free Fire, one of the most popular mobile games worldwide. During the meeting, Mr. Saleh highlighted Morocco’s growing momentum in developing the video game industry and presented his project aimed at supporting the expansion of Garena’s activities within the Kingdom.
On February 26, 2025, Benjamin Anseaume, CEO of TA Publishing (a subsidiary of Forever Entertainment Group, a major publisher on Nintendo Switch), signed a letter of intent with Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaïd, Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, in the presence of Mrs. Rachida Dati, French Minister of Culture.
This agreement marks a key milestone in the development of Morocco’s gaming industry ecosystem. This project is part of the national dynamic aimed at positioning Morocco as the African hub of the gaming industry.
The project involves setting up a studio in Rabat with 50 to 100 employees in the long term, specializing in video game development. In this context, TA Publishing will mobilize its expertise to structure the project, while the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication will facilitate the installation through incentive measures, administrative support, and operational backing.

TA Publishing is a French video game development studio, a subsidiary of Forever Entertainment Group, one of the largest video game publishers on Nintendo Switch worldwide.
The Moroccan national team has claimed the African championship in Rocket League for the third time in its history, during the African qualifiers for the FIFAe World Cup.
This victory came after the Atlas Lions defeated South Africa in the final match, winning 4 rounds to 3, with a total score of 20 goals to 3.
The national team roster included Sami Hajji, Nassim Bali, Marouane Biba, Yasmin Bali, and Rayane Benani, under the supervision of coach Saad Bassy.
This title marks Morocco’s third championship in three different esports disciplines, following previous triumphs in eFootball Mobile and eFootball Console.
Thanks to this achievement, Morocco officially secures participation in three separate competitions at the upcoming FIFAe World Cup, scheduled for December in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Royal Moroccan Federation of Video Games (FRMJE) is organizing the Video Games Caravan to celebrate the anniversary of the glorious Green March, taking place from November 4 to November 9, 2025. The caravan will tour the southern cities of the Kingdom:
- Laâyoune
- Boujdour
- Es-Smara
This initiative aims to celebrate the Green March and strengthen the Kingdom’s territorial unity, through eFootball tournaments organized in partnership with local associations, as well as training sessions and workshops in the field of video games for young people.
The caravan also seeks to promote the values of patriotism and unity, and to strengthen the connection with young gaming enthusiasts in Morocco’s cherished southern provinces.

Moroccan player Salma Atouis made history by winning the gold medal in the Women’s eFootball competition at the Arab Esports Cup 2025, held in Amman, Jordan, from September 24 to 27, 2025. In her first-ever international appearance, Salma triumphed in the final against her Yemeni opponent with a 2–1 victory under the BO3 (Best of Three) format, earning Morocco its first title in the tournament.
Meanwhile, national team player Mehdi Taherji secured the silver medal in the eFootball competition after an intense final against the world champion from Jordan. With these two medals achieved by just four participants, Morocco concluded its campaign with an impressive performance, showcasing the nation’s growing strength in esports and reinforcing its ability to compete on regional and international stages.
