The Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication (MJCC), the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG), and CDG Invest have signed a strategic partnership agreement for the implementation of the “Gamification Lab” program. This initiative serves as a lever for innovation and the valorization of Moroccan talent in the gaming industry sector, aiming to stimulate youth creativity, encourage entrepreneurship, and strengthen Morocco’s position in this rapidly expanding field.
The program aims to create a national platform dedicated to the promotion and procurement of gamification solutions developed by Moroccan studios for public and private stakeholders. This is intended to encourage the emergence of a national gaming industry, support innovation and the production of Moroccan digital content, foster the creation of qualified and sustainable jobs, and strengthen the ecosystem of Moroccan startups specialized in the gaming industry.
It also seeks to promote the use of gamification as a tool serving the collective interest in essential sectors such as education, health, culture, employment, and tourism, thereby contributing to the development of an inclusive and creative digital economy.
The implementation of the program will be structured around identifying the gamification needs of public and private stakeholders, signing specific agreements with beneficiaries, and launching Calls for Expressions of Interest to select and support Moroccan development studios.
As part of the Video Game Incubator (VGI) program, established under the agreement signed between the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication-Departement of Communication, the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, and the French Ministry of Culture, the nine incubated startups had the opportunity to take part in the international Video Game Industry Exhibition 2025, accompanied by the French Institute in Morocco and Level Link Partners.
Gamescom is the world’s largest platform bringing together game developers, publishers, and investors. This participation provided the Moroccan startups with a unique opportunity to showcase their innovations and build valuable international connections.
During the second edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo (MGE 2025), held from 2 to 6 July 2025 at the Palais des Sports, Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, five startups were selected as part of the Huawei Cloud Gaming Program. The selected startups are Octav Studio, Kokoro Games, Geek Culture Agency, Yaaz Company, and AB Progress.
This program aims to provide cloud gaming solutions and specialized training in the sector for the selected gaming startups, enhancing their technological capabilities and supporting their growth in the digital gaming industry.
Incubation support organizations formed a key part of the 2nd edition of the Morocco Gaming Expo 2025, actively engaging with a diverse range of startups representing various profiles within the gaming industry through presentations and interactive sessions.
On this occasion, we sincerely thank these organizations for their dedication and impactful support, which played a prominent role in the success of the Expo’s activities.
on the sidelines of the Morocco Gaming Industry Expo 2025, the Minister Mehdi Bensaid signed a Partnership Agreement with GXC, a leading South Korean company. This partnership aims to strengthen Morocco’s position as a destination for international investment in the video game industry, a promising sector that is increasingly attracting the interest of Moroccan youth.
The Minister also attended, alongside Yoshiki Okamoto, a global legend in game development, the finals of the Street Fighter competition, a game he originally developed. Organized by the Ministry as part of the expo, the competition concluded with the awarding of cash prizes: 50,000 MAD for the first-place winner, 30,000 MAD for the second, and 20,000 MAD for the third. The event reflected the passion and creativity that characterize Moroccan youth in this field.
As part of ongoing efforts to support the gaming industry in Morocco, the Boost’in Gaming program is a unique opportunity designed specifically for Moroccan video game development studios. This program offers participants a wide range of benefits aimed at accelerating their growth and achieving success in international markets.
Through this program, participants will benefit from training and strategic advice provided by international experts in the video game industry, helping them develop both their creative vision and business strategy.
The program also offers access to international players to test and improve games before their official launch, providing developers with valuable insights into the global user experience.
In addition, participants will receive personalized support from entrepreneurship experts to help them prepare go-to-market strategies and funding plans to grow their businesses.
One of the program’s major highlights is the possibility to receive funding of up to 500,000 MAD from the Innov Invest Fund to support game development, offering a strong financial boost toward professionalism and sustainability.
To enhance commercial success, the program also helps increase project visibility and exposure, with the goal of attracting international publishers and investors.
The Boost’in Gaming program is implemented by IMPACT Lab in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and TAMWILCOM, as part of a strategic effort to drive the growth of Morocco’s digital gaming industry.
