On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Salé, the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, highlighted the significant progress made by Morocco in the gaming industry, a sector that has grown substantially in recent years, becoming increasingly attractive to both Moroccan youth and young people from abroad.
In a press statement following a meeting held at the International University of Rabat (UIR) to present the progress of the “Video Game Creator” training program, Ms. Dati — accompanied by the Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid — praised Morocco’s efforts to develop this industry and enhance the skills of young Moroccans in the field.
She also reaffirmed France’s commitment to promoting cultural cooperation with the Kingdom for the mutual benefit of both countries, noting that meetings focusing on cultural collaboration are planned for 2026.
Ms. Dati emphasized that this win-win cooperation will benefit not only the Moroccan and French economies but also an entire cross-border ecosystem.
For his part, Mr. Bensaid stressed the importance of the partnership between Morocco and France in the gaming industry, underlining the key role of the “Video Game Creator” program — launched in collaboration with ISART Digital, the second-best video game development school in the world, UIR, and the French Embassy — in strengthening the skills of young Moroccans. The ultimate goal, he said, is to make Morocco “a pioneer in the gaming industry.”
“The video game industry offers numerous opportunities that we must fully seize as a national economy, which requires well-trained human resources,” he emphasized.
He added: “Thanks to our partnership with France, Moroccan students have been able to benefit from training programs focused on the gaming industry,” noting that the Kingdom has become an attractive destination for many international start-ups looking to invest in this sector.
